Editorial policies and reviewers
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias, ISSN: 0213-7615 (print version) and ISSN: 2341-1759 (online version), is the first scientific publication in Spanish founded in 1976 and the Official Expression Organ of the Spanish Association for the Study of Drug Addictions (AESED). It is aimed at all professionals involved in the treatment and prevention of drug addictions and other addictions and its main objective is the scientific dissemination of research work related to alcoholism, drug addictions and other addictions, as well as contributing to the research process in addictions through the creation of information exchange links between professionals in the field.
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias is published quarterly and is governed by the peer review system. It publishes original papers, review articles, opinion articles, legal articles, short communications, annotated international literature, news from the sector and the scientific societies involved, and other special articles on all fields of addictions and public administration, including epidemiology, prevention, treatment and health promotion, management and evaluation of policies and services, treatment, and environmental health, among others.
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias is a publication supported by the Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs and the University of Valencia.
FREE OPEN ACCESS
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias is a 100% open access journal: all articles published since 1975 are available to read online or download free of charge from the moment of their publication on the web.
Likewise, the Revista Española de Drogodependencias is free of article processing charges, i.e., the publication of articles is free of charge for authors.
DEPOSIT OF RESEARCH DATA
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias recommends the deposit of the data obtained from the research carried out for the preparation of the article in repositories of recognized prestige, specific to the discipline or of a generalist type. In any case, it should be a FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) repository, preferably in open access.
PRESERVATION OF DIGITAL ARCHIVES
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias develops several processes aimed at guaranteeing the permanent accessibility of the articles:
- Backup copies.
- Use of DOI.

IDENTIFICATION OF AUTHORSHIP
All persons who sign an article acknowledge that they have participated in its planning, design and execution, as well as in the interpretation of the results. Likewise, they acknowledge that they critically reviewed the work, approved its final version and agree with its publication in the order of authors' signature.
Likewise, it is recognized that no responsible signature has been omitted from the work and the criteria of scientific authorship are met.
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias uses the ORCID® persistent digital identifier as an author standardization system.
INCLUSIVE AND NON-SEXIST LANGUAGE
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias strongly recommends that papers submitted for publication use inclusive language free of prejudices associated with race, functional diversity, gender, sexual orientation, beliefs, ideology or socioeconomic status.
Likewise, the Revista Española de Drogodependencias recommends the use of non-sexist language in the texts submitted for publication.
It is also recommended that the authors of papers in whose research the sex variable is handled indicate whether they have taken into account possible differences between sexes in the conclusions.
ANTIPLAGIO
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias is a member of Similarity Check, an initiative launched by Crossref that brings together several publishers in order to protect the originality of the contents they publish.
We use iThenticate software to detect coincidences and similarities between the texts submitted for evaluation and those previously published in other sources.
REFEREEING PROCESS
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias will acknowledge receipt of the papers sent, reserving the right to reject the originals it deems inappropriate and to propose modifications to them when it deems it necessary. The Editor will not be held responsible for rejected material, once the authors have been informed of its decision.
After this preliminary analysis, all articles will be submitted to an external review process according to the “peer” and “double blind” system in which at least two reviewers external to the journal will participate, and a third reviewer will be called in if necessary. The anonymity of both the author and the reviewers will be maintained.
Authors will be informed of the final acceptance or rejection of the article.
Each published article will indicate the dates of receipt and approval of the article.
The Editorial Board will make the decision, taking into account the external reports, on the publication or rejection of each article.
The ideas and opinions expressed in the published papers are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not compromise the ideas, opinions and policies of the Journal's management. For the rest, the legal regulations in force will be followed with regard to intellectual property rights and reproduction of the articles.

The Revista Española de Drogodependencias shares and adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), a non-profit organization whose objective is to support researchers in achieving ethical, integral and responsible publication.
FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION
The Revista Española de Drogodependencias is a quarterly publication, which publishes an annual volume divided into four issues published in March, June, September and December.
